NEW & NOTEWORTHY

Annual Member Meeting Recap

Saturday afternoon saw a large gathering of members in the upstairs lounge for our annual member meeting with the Board of Directors. Thanks to all those who prioritized this meeting, provided comments and feedback, and to the staff and Board members who help guide the club. We were also visited by Pete and Tim Meyer, Jr. for a feel-good update on the increased electrical and water capacity and their thanks for club members who stepped up last season to help get the new power increase accomplished. These upgrades to snow making allowed Caberfae to be 100% open earlier than any other northern Michigan resort this season!

There was a robust discussion on the need and costs for upgrading the roofing. Members should look for more information later this spring on the financial commitments needed to accomplish the project.

New board member Nate Houk and re-elected President Paul Waug were “introduced” to the gathered members as well. Many thanks were shared for those who ran for the board, all of the staff who keep our club and board humming, and volunteers who continue to pitch in for various critical tasks.

The evening finished with the always-tasty steak dinner by Sue and the kitchen and grill team. Thanks again to all who attended!

Annual Earl Huckle Memorial Race Coming March 9th

Sunday, March 9th is the Earl Huckle Memorial Race which is the single largest fundraiser for the Cadillac Area Ski Club. CASC underwrites all things racing at Caberfae including the Junior Program, Wednesday Night Race League, the Spring Race Series, and much of the equipment used by Cadillac High School Ski Team. The CASC strives to keep ski racing affordable and accessible for Cadillac area families.

There will once again be a silent auction in Beaties Bar and Grill following the race. Donations for the auction are encouraged but this is not a ski swap, so please no used items without significant antique value. Please contact Meg Mogan at (231) 468-1176 to arrange a pickup of an item or drop it off to Beaties the morning of the event.

The simplest way to support is a monetary donation. If you or someone you care about has benefited from the Club’s efforts, please consider a donation using one of the two methods below.

Double Parking is Allowed…But With a Catch

With so many people enjoying this great snow year, weekend and event parking can be full to overflowing. Double parking can be a solution but please make sure to drop your car keys with Sue in the kitchen so other vehicles can get out when they need to.

Parking Request for Truck and Large Vehicle Owners

The Club is busy and attendance at special events has been great! This also means a full parking lot many weekends. The Board is asking that the first two parking spots inside the gate, adjacent to the McKenzie Lodge, be CARS ONLY to avoid blocking the gate. This is both a fire egress issue as well as general safety issue for the parking lot. Thank you!
