The 2024/2025 Ski Season is HERE!

NEW & NOTEWORTHY

Opening Day Saturday, December 7

Thanks to cold temps and fabulous snowmaking Caberfae will open for the season this weekend! The Club will open at 9:30am with lifts running at 10am. Ticket staff will be on hand at the Club Saturday and Sunday to hand out those precious first lift tickets of the year. Sue, Mikaela and Nan will have the kitchen fired up with a limited menu to keep us fueled. The bar will be open at 3pm Saturday. See you soon!

No Bad News 2024/25 vol. 1

This newsletter caught me just about how this latest snow dump did - behind on everything.  Lackluster winters in previous years seem to push back my fall chores and ski shop visits to later and later dates.  The snow guns have been roaring now for an impressive five straight days which has me scrambling to assemble my kit, size up my growing kids, and most importantly, shift my mindset to the fact that chairlifts will be spinning on Saturday!  I suspect it will be a great opener, and I commend Tim and his snowmaking crew.  Those cars have not left the parking lot all week.  I do not know where those guys sleep, if they do.

When you live at Caberfae the changes always seem gradual, but there’s some really exciting stuff going on for those of you just checking back in.  Snowmaking investments have upped capacity substantially in an effort to take advantage of narrower temperature windows.  More live music, events, and resort programming will dot calendars to complement the on-hill amenities.  Caberfae is even serving Coke now so your servers don’t have to say, “We have Pepsi, is that OK?”  I will be sad to see the Sunday 9-10 AM ski window mostly go.  There was a crew of loyal die hards that could cram 7-8 runs in before the rest of the world seemed to join.  Maybe we’ll still show up at the Vista Chair and just drink coffee in silent protest.

Much like Caberfae, our Club changes too.  A mostly freshman board is over a year in and has their feet under them.  Expect new things.  Some things will work, some won’t, but everything we view as a “tradition” today was started by someone, sometime, sticking their neck out to try something.  Be patient, participatory, and, most importantly, kind.  If the happenings of the Club are stressing you out, get involved!  If you don’t want to get involved, free therapy exists by checking out the waiting list of hundreds of folks who would gladly take your spot.  Have a great holiday season and I’ll report back in the new year.

Overheard from a stranger: “The beauty of Coke is if you let it go flat and get warm… voila! You have Pepsi”. - Sam Hogg

Board Meeting Friday, December 6

The next meeting of the CSC Board of Directors is this Friday, 5pm at the Club.

Help Us Locate the Missing Founders Plaque

The Board is asking for information as to the whereabouts of the founders plaque that was displayed on the stairway leading to the second floor. Some members have noticed it missing and we’re asking members for any information you may have about it’s current location. Thank you!
